W.C. EDGAR BIO & ALBUM Profile:

Alcohol of Fame...

In a not so perfect world filled with a facade of pretty faced boy bands with absolutely no substance, and lame reality "Idol" shows filled with bad karaoke shower  singers, stands a guy at six foot three who's paid his dues in Country Music.

WC Edgar has ridden a lot of roads in both rickety vans and million-dollar tour buses since his start in country music playing steel guitar for the likes of Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Marty Haggard, Ty England, Jeff Carson, Dale Watson,  Leroy Van Dyke, Johnny Lee as well as The Country Music USA Show at Nashville's once famed Opryland USA.

But now, at last, it's his turn.  He's the new Country Music Artist and has taken the time to make an album of his own that includes his buddy Daryle Singletary helping him out on  the last line of a  WC Edgar ballad titled "Mirrors Don't Lie".  Remarkably, Edgar wrote every song on the album without the aid of a single co-writer.  These aren't just good songs, they're classic ones.  He's mastered the sounds and idioms of Country Music in it's rhinestone heyday.

Alcohol of Fame is a beacon of traditional Country Music, one that sparkles with fiddles, steel guitars and tales of drinking too much and loving too hard.  It's one of the most exciting collections to come down the pike in years.

Alcohol of Fame is more than an album, It's an event.  Prepare to be astounded!

WC Edgar is a good ol' boy with that rapidly recognized Texas-sized- talent. His Texas Rain is a special treat.

W.C. Edgar, "Mirrors Don't Lie" The title immediately makes me think of Lefty Frizzell's "I Never Go Around Mirrors," one of the saddest self-deprecating country songs of the last half-century. The smooth-voiced Edgar's song has a hefty dose of that classic Lefty-era golden glory about it - a sound so barroom-sad you'll want to start drinking immediately, even first thing in the morning.

A must buy album!

Lots of CD's comes my way each month and I am very pleased to put a CD like this in my player. No need to skip some tracks, very great country music from the first track to the last. You get it all here: uptempo stompers, shuffles, tearjerking ballads all penned by W. C. Edgar himself who sings with a real country voice not far from Merle Haggard when he goes down deep... Don't let this CD stay out of your collection if you like real hard core country music! Kjell Horlin, MCWC Country Radio Sweden

Review from Take Country Back Internet Radio

WC Edgar moved to Nashville in 1989 to become an artist. He wound up playing steel guitar for top artists who include Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Ty England, Marty Haggard, BB Watson, LeRoy Van Dyke, Dale Watson  and Opryland USA.  He counts among his friends, other artists that include Tracy Lawrence and Daryle Singletary with whom he learned the ropes of the business. WC, who admittedly doesn't play by Nashville's rules, is now looking for his own deal that includes a guest turn by his friend Daryle Singletary. WC Edgar writes all his own songs that fall into the traditional country vein, drenched in stone country fiddle and weeping steel, and he possesses a deep, rich baritone very reminiscent of that of his friend Daryle Singletary or Trace Adkins. Two of the songs revolve around heartache. "Vegas" has an uptempo two-stepping melody that belies it's melancholy tale of a down-on-his-luck rodeo cowboy mourning his lost love. The swaying shuffle, "Mirrors Don't Lie" is an aching ballad of heartbreak and regret over a shattered relationship. The third song, "Red, White & Black" is a mid-tempo patriotic song, minus the chest thumping jingo-ism that the more recent spate of 'patriotic' songs have leaned towards, and this one instead makes a case for unity plus there's nine more great WC Edgar penned songs on the new CD entitled "Alcohol of Fame".  WC Edgar's songs are well written country songs that easily stand up with the best of anything that came out of the neo-traditionalist era from artists like George Strait, Randy Travis, Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Lawrence and even WC's good friend Daryle Singletary. He also possesses a voice that can easily match any of them and he's an extremely accomplished musician. He's thus far had a bit of success in that some radio stations picked up the cut "Mirrors Don't Lie." Let's hope it's the first step towards WC getting that deal, because he's an artist well worthy of being heard by a far greater audience.

W.C. Edgar – “Alcohol of Fame”  Every now and again an independent cd comes along which is so good you wonder how the artist isn’t a star of the highest proportion. Vocally W C has a voice which reminds of Merle Haggard’s son, Marty and that is very good. He is also a steel guitarist who toured with the likes of Alan Jackson, surprisingly the aforementioned Marty Haggard….could this be a ruse and it is in fact Marty doing the vocals????? Well that is my conspiracy theory of the month, even if I would be wrong. He is an exceptional writer and has written all 12 songs without a collaborator. “You Never Had Forever In Mind” is a great a-grade lyric about the one sided end of a relationship. “Alcohol of Fame”, is different to the song of a few years ago but every bit as good. “Mirrors Don’t Lie” (not the Gene Watson song) features the equally fine voiced Darryl Singletary. Just to prove he could write 3 songs with the same title as a well known song he does an excellent “Close Up the Honky Tonks”, a full bore honky tonk number. Several tracks have a rodeo theme and “Vegas” couples the rodeo theme with the break up of a relationship. “Barrels and Bottles” is an upbeat number about a guy who goes to watch his girl in the barrel races whilst he himself prefers the bottles. “Texas Rain” is another breakup song with a great conversational style and a few nice organ runs. You could never accuse W C of having great romantic success. One or two tracks have a Charlie Daniels style “if it ain’t American..it ain’t” style lyric but the vocals are so good you will overlook this. Knock me down with a feather….WC is touring Australia and will be playing Sydney in June and Melbourne end of May. Great album.

From Honky Tonkin Music.com
2008 Release. Edgar is probably one of the best kept secrets as far country vocals and musical abilities are concerned and has played steel guitar for a host of country notables including,ALAN JACKSON, TIM McGRAW, DALE WATSON, LEROY VAN DYKE to name just a few. This is a real honkytonker with lots of fiddles, steel guitar, accoustic guitar, piano, bass & drums. The downbeat has lots of bottom on the bass that'll set your toes to tappin'. Edgar's vocals are in the tradition of RANDY TRAVIS with shades of PAYCHECK & HAGGARD on the ballads and a touch of CHARLIE DANIELS on the uptempos. All songs are EDGAR originals and better than most of 'em. 14 tracks with intro by DARYLE SINLETARY. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Live Review from "Hicktown" in Schofield Wisconsin
We have had the extreme pleasure of having WC EDGAR at our venue for a three hour show. Let me tell you, he is the best. Talk about Traditional and original country music. He puts on a high energy, totally professional show. He projected himself as a top-notch musician, and that he is. We were so pleased with WC EDGAR here at HickTown, we are working on bringing him back again and again. I personally hated to see him go. Tried to keep him here, but .......
A very tasteful and entertaining show he put on. I recommend him coming to your venue. All of our customers loved him and stayed all night long. We have given him our place as his new home away from home. You will not be sorry in employing him to entertain.
I have had nothing but positive feedback from the time he was here. And all whom attended that night keep asking when he will come back again.
It was so refreshing to have such a gentlemen in the house to perform for us. We appreciate not only his great talent but, his professionalism in his business dealings.
Great Performance, Fantabulous Entertainer, and Musician.
